Devlog4 Shield Of Brave

Hello everyone, Welcome to Devlog 4!
Today, I’m talking about the ally NPCs — your personal guards in the game.
I’ve created NPCs who can receive various commands from you, such as:
Follow me
Go protect that person
Hold this position
Escort this person
You, go prepare some ammo
You, go get medical treatment, and so on.
These guards are the key to success, because I’ve designed the missions and tasks in such a way that it’s very hard for one person alone to run everywhere and handle everything.
So, success really depends on how well you manage your team.
Sometimes, if you send them on a mission and they get into trouble, they’ll call you on the phone to ask for backup.
After a fight, if they’re injured, you can order them to go see the doctor.
It’s a mechanic I added to bring realism and challenge, instead of the usual automatic health regeneration over time.
These NPCs are truly essential to your survival and to completing the game.
If you mismanage them, it’s basically game over.
For example — to get ammunition, you can’t just walk over fallen enemies and pick up their weapons.
No, it doesn’t work like that!
To restock ammo, you have to order one of your guards to go fetch some from a specific location.
That’s an extra layer of difficulty — ammo doesn’t just “spawn” automatically.
Your guard takes some time to retrieve it from a crate before making it available to you, and during that time, you’re vulnerable...
So, if you mismanage your team and let the enemies take down all your guards, you’ll eventually run out of ammo to finish the game…
Unless you decide to go hand-to-hand every time (yep, that’s possible too 😏).
But in that case — good luck!
Thank you all — that was Devlog 4.
It’s probably the last devlog before release.
The game will be released on October 16, and it will be completely free to play.
The goal is to gather as much feedback as possible from players so I can improve the game further.
I truly hope you’ll enjoy it, and I want you to know that I put a strong emphasis on listening to every relevant suggestion or recommendation to make things better.
See you soon — and thank you for following the development of Shield of Brave!
